When you buy a 2018 Ford Mustang, you're buying into a powerful racing legacy. The latest generation is more powerful than ever for both the V8 and EcoBoost models, which is why both come standard with electronic line-lock, a professional drag-racing feature that makes it easy to heat up the back tires before a run.

They are also available with Drag Strip mode.

Drag Strip mode is available with the 10-speed automatic transmission. It prevents loss of torque while shifting for peak engine output throughout the launch.

"Typically, when you shift gears, you give up time," explains Carl Widmann, Mustang chief engineer. "In Drag Strip mode, the engine torque doesn’t drop when you're shifting. You get peak engine torque and horsepower straight through thanks to our new Ford-built 10-speed transmission."

Thanks to these features, and newly-available Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires, the 2018 Mustang GT can go from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds, making it the fastest V8 Mustang yet.
